Economic Development Investment

Since the inception of the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council (the strategic advisory board for Empire State Development representing 7 counties of the Hudson Valley) in 2011, $686M in grant funds have been awarded for economic development projects in the region.  These projects represent $6.5B in total project costs and 46,000 jobs retained or created in the Mid-Hudson Region (which includes Rockland County).

Of these funds, $51M was awarded in Rockland County, representing $625M in total project costs and the retention or creation of 8,000 jobs.

The Rockland County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) also provides incentives to attract new businesses and to support expansion projects.  Some of the incentives businesses can access through the IDA include:

  • Sales and Use Tax Exemption
  • Mortgage Recording Tax Exemption
  • Real Property Tax Agreements
  • Tax Exempt Bond Financing

Over the past 10 years, the IDA has been instrumental in spurring almost $10B of investment in Rockland.
